Our malas are hand made and knotted, fair trade, vegan friendly and organic - in short - they are ethical, they have been made only with positive energy we want to pass on to you.
Some people like to keep their malas looped around their wrists so they can hold the tassel through day if they start to feel stressed and sometimes that centring to their mantras helps to keep them from feeling pressured. Others wear them around their necks and others keep them as a rosary and take them out just to pray. However you wear your mala, it is important that you feel comfortable and happy - there is no right or wrong way to wear them.
Malas are sacred beads, usually made of 108 beads, representing the number of times a mantra is repeated with a Guru bead (the +1) bead bringing you back to the starting position. Benefits of using malas for meditation and prayer, are that they are gentle and firm to hold, so they feel natural, non violent or aggressive, they bring us back to the simple and steady rhythm of our breaths and heartbeats.
By repeating a mantra, be it simply OM to relax the mind and body or a prayer for wisdom in the Buddhist tradition or a Hindu incantation to Vishnu, malas keep our minds stable and help us from wandering and becoming stressed during a time of quiet. Moving the mala through our hands whilst praying keeps us focused and calm.
